On July 8, 2026, Professor Martin Green, often referred to as the "father of modern solar power," was honored with the International Science and Technology Cooperation Award of the People's Republic of China at the 2025 National Science and Technology Award Conference. This award represents the highest scientific accolade available to foreign experts, specifically recognizing international friends who have made outstanding contributions to scientific and technological exchange and cooperation between China and the rest of the world. It is one of China's five major national-level science and technology awards.

Professor Martin Green stated that green energy is a shared cause for all humanity and that this honor is the result of years of successful collaboration between the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and China's industry, academia, and research sectors. He emphasized that global low-carbon development is inseparable from cross-border scientific and technological cooperation.

As a distinguished professor at UNSW, Martin Green has not only actively engaged in photovoltaic industry-academia-research collaboration, facilitating the translation of laboratory technologies into practical applications, but has also cultivated key talent for China's photovoltaic sector. Among the first ten Chinese photovoltaic companies to list in the United States, the technical leaders of eight were students of Professor Martin Green. One of them is Ouyang Zi, the current Chief Technology Officer of JA Solar. The connection between JA Solar and Professor Martin Green began even earlier. In 2005, Hebei Jinglong Group, together with the Australian Solar Energy Research and Technology Company and the UNSW Solar Energy Research Centre (founded by Martin Green), jointly established JA Solar Co., Ltd. The "JA" in the company name stands for Jinglong and Australia.

In August 2006, with the assistance of Professor Martin Green's team, JA Solar completed the construction of a 75MW solar cell production line after more than a year of work. The cell conversion efficiency exceeded 17%, reaching international standards.

In recent years, JA Solar and Professor Martin Green have maintained a close partnership in joint research and development, achieving several milestone advancements for the company.

In June 2026, Professor Martin Green was invited to attend the "JA x 2026" brand renewal launch event, where a new world record for TOPCon cell efficiency was unveiled, showcasing JA Solar's R&D capabilities.

In April 2026, Professor Martin Green led a delegation to revisit JA Solar's headquarters and its Yangzhou base to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company's development strategy and technological systems. In 2024, JA Solar and UNSW finalized a cooperation agreement in Australia to establish a joint photovoltaic R&D laboratory.
