To deepen comprehensive educational cooperation between Guangdong and Inner Mongolia and promote collaborative efforts by universities to support the development of a modern industrial system, the Education Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Education Department of Guangdong Province jointly held the "Leading the Way, Strengthening the Main Line, Guangdong-Inner Mongolia Hand-in-Hand, Jointly Building Development" conference on May 24-25 in Hohhot. During the conference, three major platforms were officially launched: the Guangdong-Inner Mongolia University Alliance, the Guangdong-Inner Mongolia University Faculty Development Alliance, and the Guangdong-Inner Mongolia Vocational Education Collaborative Development Community. A total of 30 universities and 6 enterprises from both regions signed 19 inter-university cooperation agreements and 6 university-enterprise cooperation agreements on-site. These agreements aim to advance discipline co-construction, talent co-development, collaborative research, and shared achievements, facilitating deeper and more effective educational collaboration between Guangdong and Inner Mongolia. This marks a new phase and higher level of educational cooperation between the two regions.

Li Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Education Work Committee of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Education Department, expressed hope that leveraging the platforms' core functions and advantages in talent aggregation, resource integration, and collaborative innovation will help universities from both regions innovate new cooperation models. These include cross-regional discipline system co-construction, joint scientific research, collaborative talent cultivation, cooperation in educational evaluation reform, co-construction and sharing of "artificial intelligence + education," and mutual assistance in enrollment planning. The goal is to encourage various stakeholders to actively participate, engage in deep对接, and implement practical共建, enabling mutual empowerment, mutual benefit, and shared success in serving the development of a modern industrial system.

Feng Wei, Member of the Education Work Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Deputy Director of the Education Department, mentioned in his speech that he hopes to leverage the alliance and community platforms to integrate high-quality resources in higher education, vocational education, and faculty talent. Based on the industrial characteristics of both regions, the collaboration will focus on key areas such as new energy, new materials, digital economy, modern agriculture and animal husbandry, and northern opening-up. The aim is to identify specific合作切入点, promote the two-way flow of innovation, talent, and industrial elements, and strive to create a new局面 of educational cooperation characterized by bidirectional empowerment and mutual benefit.

It is understood that since the signing of a strategic cooperation framework agreement between the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the People's Government of Guangdong Province in 2023, educational cooperation and exchanges between Guangdong and Inner Mongolia have become more extensive. By the end of 2025, the Education Department of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Education Department of Guangdong Province further deepened their cooperation and jointly issued the "Implementation Plan for Educational Cooperation between Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province." Earlier this year, both sides jointly formulated a list of Guangdong-Inner Mongolia educational cooperation projects for 2026, clarifying cooperation directions and detailing implementation measures to jointly promote the effective implementation of 31 cooperation items within the year.

Sun Zhanjiu, Assistant to the President of Inner Mongolia University of Technology, stated that the university is engaging in point-to-point cooperation with Guangdong University of Technology and also collaborating with some enterprises in Guangdong. For example, laboratory resources can be shared, joint scientific research can be conducted, and collaborative talent cultivation can be carried out, which can drive the upward development of discipline construction. This represents a complementary advantage and a win-win cooperation.
