UOB (U11) reports resilient 1Q26 results with robust capital and liquidity positions

United Overseas Bank Limited (U11) announced key operating metrics for the first quarter ended Mar, 31 2026, highlighting continued balance-sheet growth and stable asset quality across its regional franchise. Gross loans expanded to 354 billion Singapore dollars, up 4 per cent year-on-year, while customer deposits rose to 427 billion Singapore dollars, keeping the loan-to-deposit ratio at 81.9 per cent. The bank’s common equity Tier 1 capital adequacy ratio stood at a strong 15.3 per cent, with a net stable funding ratio of 115 per cent and an all-currency liquidity coverage ratio of 144 per cent. Return on equity was 11.5 per cent and net interest margin came in at 1.82 per cent; the non-performing loan ratio remained low at 1.5 per cent.

Group Retail delivered income of 1.288 billion Singapore dollars, a 4 per cent year-on-year decline, and profit before tax of 537 million Singapore dollars, down 10 per cent. Current and savings account balances drove growth, lifting the CASA mix to 58 per cent, while net new money of 1 billion Singapore dollars supported wealth assets under management.

Group Wholesale Banking posted income of 1.470 billion Singapore dollars, 13 per cent lower year-on-year, with profit before tax at 1.016 billion Singapore dollars. Transaction banking continued to account for nearly half of segmental income, supported by double-digit growth in CASA and trade loans.

Global Markets achieved record-high quarterly income of 658 million Singapore dollars, an increase of 19 per cent compared with the same period last year, underpinned by strong customer demand for treasury products and active trading opportunities.

Management reaffirmed its focus on balancing growth with stability, citing a diversified funding base, disciplined risk management and ongoing investment in technology and talent to strengthen its regional franchise and sustain shareholder returns.
