On September 3rd, at the fresh corn base in Yufeng Village, Zhaoxing Town, Luobei County, Hegang City, the fields were painted gold as farmers seized the sunny weather to harvest. Inside the nearby workshop, machines hummed steadily while plump sweet and waxy corn cobs moved down the production line, soon to be shipped nationwide carrying the distinct sweetness of the black soil.

Due to early rainfall that left large machinery unable to enter the fields, the base is currently organizing manual labor to accelerate the harvest. "Our waxy corn is never force-ripened or picked early; it matures naturally in the field. When heavy rain keeps the machines out, we rely on manual picking, and we don't dare cut corners at any stage to protect the texture and quality," said Jiang Haijun, head of Luobei County Yushun Food Co., Ltd.

To lock in the freshness of just-harvested corn, the area has implemented a "same-day harvest, same-day processing" preservation model. Corn is transported from the field to the processing workshop within 30 minutes, then undergoes de-husking, sorting, cleaning, high-temperature steaming and sterilization, air cooling, and vacuum sealing. From field to finished product, the entire process takes no more than three hours, maximizing the corn's natural softness, stickiness, and sweetness. A fully integrated industry chain covering planting, harvesting, ripening, freshness preservation, and sales has taken shape in Yufeng Village.

The company has developed a 30-hectare standardized fresh corn base through land transfers, while also introducing a dual-income model of "land transfer plus doorstep employment" to broaden villagers' earning opportunities. Many local farmers now take up seasonal work at the processing plant during slack agricultural periods. "I usually farm at home, and during the off-season I work at the corn processing plant. I can earn around 200 yuan a day, which is pretty good money," said villager Li Changhai from Yufeng Village.

The humble fresh corn has evolved into a pillar industry that enriches both households and the village. Today, Yufeng Village's fresh corn is shipped in bulk and sells well across the country. Superior quality combined with full-chain freshness preservation has turned this small corn cob into a "golden industry" for local income growth, injecting a steady stream of sweet momentum into rural revitalization.
