Snap Inc (NYSE: SNAP) shares climbed more than 13% to $5.72 on Tuesday, following the company's stronger-than-expected second-quarter earnings report released after Monday's market close.

For the quarter ending June 30, the social media firm reported a net loss of $164 million, a significant improvement from the $262.6 million loss recorded in the same period last year. Adjusted profit reached $250 million, comfortably surpassing the $192 million average estimate from analysts. Revenue for the quarter came in at $1.6 billion, up 19% year-over-year and exceeding the $1.54 billion Wall Street consensus. Within this, advertising revenue, which accounts for the bulk of total sales, grew 9% to $1.28 billion. The "Other Revenue" category, which includes the Snapchat+ subscription service, surged 85% to $316 million.

On the user front, global daily active users (DAUs) hit 493 million for the quarter, an increase of roughly 5% from a year ago, maintaining the same growth rate as the previous two quarters and beating the 488 million DAU forecast.

Looking ahead, Snap provided an optimistic outlook: third-quarter revenue is expected to land between $1.7 billion and $1.74 billion, with the midpoint above the analyst consensus of $1.7 billion. Adjusted profit is projected to be between $300 million and $350 million, though the $325 million midpoint is slightly below the $327 million market expectation.
