Stock Track | NOV Inc Plunges 7% in After-Hours Trading on Disappointing Q1 Earnings and Weak Guidance

04/28

NOV Inc's stock experienced a significant 7% decline in post-market trading following the release of its first-quarter 2026 financial results. The after-hours plunge came immediately after the company reported earnings that fell short of expectations.

The oilfield equipment maker reported a sharp decline in net income to approximately $19-20 million, representing a substantial year-over-year decrease. Revenue slipped 2% to $2.05 billion, slightly missing analyst estimates, while adjusted EBITDA fell by $75 million to $177 million. The company cited the Middle East conflict as a significant factor, driving an estimated $54 million revenue hit and cutting adjusted EBITDA by approximately $32 million.

Adding to investor concerns, NOV provided second-quarter guidance calling for a 4%-6% year-over-year revenue decline, with adjusted EBITDA projected between $185 million and $215 million. The combination of disappointing current results and cautious forward-looking statements appears to have driven the post-market selloff.
