Data from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that the Producer Price Index for final demand rose 0.4% month-over-month in August, following a 0.1% increase in the previous month. This figure aligned with the median estimate of 0.4% from a survey of 50 economists, whose projections ranged between a 0.2% and 0.6% increase.

On an annual basis, the August final demand PPI climbed 5.4%, edging past the market's anticipated 5.3% rise. When excluding volatile food and energy categories, the core PPI for final demand advanced 0.2% on a monthly basis, falling short of the 0.3% expectation, and posted a 4.6% yearly gain, in line with projections.

Further stripping out food, energy, and trade services, the final demand PPI increased by 0.3% month-over-month and 4.7% year-over-year.
