Hong Kong Stock Market 52-Week Highs and Lows: September 16 Trading Recap

As of the market close on September 16, a total of 31 stocks have reached fresh 52-week highs, according to data compiled at the end of the trading session.

Leading the pack in terms of high-breaking momentum are Yuk Wing Group Holdings Ltd (01536), Haiqing Zhiyuan (01392), and Hua Ying Construction (01582), which posted high-breaking rates of 48.83%, 34.44%, and 29.91%, respectively. Other notable names on the highs list include Green Energy Technology Group (00979), Wai Kung Holdings (01793), and Victoria Harbour Racing (08377), with rates of 21.74%, 19.75%, and 18.13%.

Where the momentum sits

Among the more widely recognized names hitting new highs, Asymchem Laboratories (06821) closed at HK$164.50 with a high of HK$170.00, marking a 6.32% high-breaking rate, while Sa Sa International (00178) and Bank of East Asia (00023) also appeared on the list with rates of 2.73% and 0.57%, respectively. Qingdao Port (06198) edged up with a 0.52% rate, and China Boton (03318) recorded a 0.92% high-breaking pace.

On the flip side, the number of stocks making new 52-week lows is significantly larger, with a total of over 150 counters hitting fresh bottom levels during Tuesday's session.

A closer look at the laggards

The steepest decline in terms of low-breaking rate came from Haina Star Technology (08297), which fell 25.53% to a close of HK$0.037. Jiangsu Hongxin (02625) followed with a 16.52% drop, while Yueyun Transport (03399) and Xinrong International (01587) recorded declines of 12.55% and 12.36%, respectively.

Several prominent companies also touched 52-week lows, including SenseTime Group (00020), which fell 4.07%, and its RMB-denominated counterpart SenseTime Group-WR (80020), down 4.25%. Meituan's peer Kuaishou Technology (01024) slipped 2.02%, while Bilibili (09626) decreased 0.95%. Li Ning (02331) and its RMB counter Li Ning-R (82331) fell 1.38% and 0.45%, respectively.

Other notable blue-chip and large-cap names hitting new lows include Great Wall Motor (02333), down 0.88%, Hang Lung Properties (00101), down 0.75%, China Southern Airlines (01055), down 1.55%, and China Eastern Airlines (00670), down 1.19%. JD Logistics-affiliated companies were absent, but Trip.com Group (not on the list) aside, the travel sector saw Tongcheng Travel (00780) decrease 1.73%.

Commodity and materials plays also featured prominently on the lows list, with Tianqi Lithium (09696) down 2.99%, Ganfeng Lithium (01772) down 2.81%, China Building Materials (03323) down 1.52%, and Anhui Conch Cement (00914) down 0.31%. CGN Mining (01164) fell 1.75%, while China XD Electric (02727) declined 0.70%.

Several consumer-related names also weakened, including Haidilao International (06862), down 1.04%, Jiumaojiu (09922), down 2.94%, Nayuki Holdings (not listed), and China Feihe (06186), down 1.22%. Sands China Ltd (01928) fell 1.96%, and Yum China was not on the list, but Maoyan Entertainment (01896) declined 1.88%.

The broader market context shows that the majority of the decliners were concentrated in sectors such as consumer discretionary, healthcare, and technology, while energy and utility counters like Datang New Energy (01798) and Sichuan Energy Investment Development (01713) also registered modest lows of 0.98% and 1.20%, respectively. The data reflects a broad-based pullback across many segments of the Hong Kong-listed market on this trading day.
