Citi has released a research report indicating that, based on BYD Company (HKG: 01211)'s improved wholesale momentum in September, the firm has raised its export forecasts and notably enhanced its fundamental index for the automaker. This index incorporates weighted metrics covering inventory, exports, orders, and market share.

According to the bank's analysis of weekly wholesale data from the China Passenger Car Association, which includes both domestic sales and exports, BYD Company's average daily wholesale volume has increased by 11% month-over-month through September. Citi has accordingly revised its September export growth prediction for BYD Company upward, from a 3% sequential increase to a 5% increase.

Factoring in updated electric vehicle order trends, Citi projects that BYD Company's domestic EV orders for September will grow by 8% month-over-month. The firm also sets the industry-wide EV retail sales for September at an estimated year-over-year decline of 12%.

Combining these factors, the bank calculates BYD Company's weighted fundamental index for September at 0.075, exceeding August's reading of 0.02, reflecting the improved operational outlook.
