Recent online speculation suggested that Cheung Kong Group founder Li Ka-shing disposed of his luxury residence at No. 79 Deep Water Bay Road for HK$5 billion, with this news trending across major social media platforms. On August 4th, CK ASSET (01113) Chairman Victor Li Tzar-kuoi issued a public clarification: "We have never intended to sell the property at No. 79 Deep Water Bay Road. Reports and posts on certain online and social media platforms regarding the sale of the No. 79 Deep Water Bay Road property are entirely fabricated, speculative, and without factual basis." Victor Li further stated that online platforms frequently feature news about himself and his family members, most of which are fabricated, with some being unreasonable, others illogical, and some even appearing fraudulent. This highly scrutinized property is situated in Hong Kong's traditional luxury residential area of Deep Water Bay, surrounded by mountains on three sides with a mountain backdrop facing the sea, positioned on a hillside. In 1963, Li Ka-shing, then 35 years old, spent HK$630,000 to purchase this three-story garden villa, which became the matrimonial home for him and his late wife Betty Chow Yuet Ming. Subsequently, Li Ka-shing invested substantial amounts in renovating the residence and installing sophisticated security systems.
