Data released on Thursday revealed that the average daily trading volume of 16 single-stock leveraged ETFs in South Korea fell below 1 trillion won (approximately $701 million) for the first time on Wednesday.

This decline follows regulatory measures introduced to curb investment products believed to have exacerbated recent market volatility. According to data from the Korea Exchange, the total trading volume for these 16 leveraged ETFs on Wednesday reached 919.8 billion won.

This marks the first time the average daily trading volume has dipped below 1 trillion won since the 16 leveraged ETFs were listed on May 27. Last Friday, South Korea's financial regulator raised the minimum cash margin requirement for investing in single-stock leveraged ETFs.

The data showed that the daily trading volume of these 16 leveraged ETFs plummeted to 3.1 trillion won on Friday, down sharply from 12.4 trillion won the previous trading day. On Monday, the average daily trading volume for these products further declined to 1.3 trillion won, before slipping to 1.2 trillion won on Tuesday.
