On August 20, it was reported that the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China successfully completed a book-building issuance of 6 billion yuan in renminbi-denominated government bonds in the Macao Special Administrative Region, targeting professional investors. The offering drew robust interest from the market, with total subscriptions reaching 38.591 billion yuan, approximately 6.43 times the issue size.

The issuance comprised four tranches: 3 billion yuan in 2-year bonds with a coupon rate of 1.3%, 1 billion yuan in 3-year bonds yielding 1.33%, 1 billion yuan in 5-year notes at 1.46%, and 1 billion yuan in 10-year bonds carrying a rate of 1.76%.

The strong subscription multiple underscores sustained investor confidence in Chinese sovereign debt, even as global fixed-income markets navigate shifting monetary policy expectations. This marks another successful offshore issuance by the Chinese finance ministry, reinforcing Macao's role as a complementary hub for yuan-denominated capital market activities alongside Hong Kong.
