SanDisk Corp. (SNDK) surged 7.11% in pre-market trading on Friday, extending the powerful rebound from the previous session where the stock skyrocketed approximately 26%. The rally was driven by a confluence of positive catalysts across the semiconductor landscape, with Microsoft's blowout earnings report serving as the primary ignition for the memory sector.

Microsoft posted fiscal fourth-quarter results that significantly exceeded expectations, with its intelligent-cloud segment revenue jumping 32% to $39.31 billion, buoyed by 43% growth in Azure and other cloud services. Crucially, the software giant maintained its capital expenditure guidance, easing investor fears about runaway AI spending without commensurate returns. This "responsible approach" to AI investments, combined with improving free cash flow projections, made the market more comfortable with the broader AI investment cycle. ARM's fiscal first-quarter earnings also beat consensus estimates, with revenue rising 22% year-over-year, further catalyzing the semiconductor sector-wide momentum.

Additional support came from Samsung Electronics' record-breaking quarterly results, which showed operating profit surging over 1,800% year-over-year, with management signaling that memory supply shortages could persist through 2028. Meanwhile, hedge fund Citadel's acquisition of a distressed AI-focused fund's entire portfolio—which held concentrated long positions in memory stocks including SanDisk—removed a significant forced-selling overhang. The pre-market surge also reflects an oversold recovery after the stock lost nearly half its value from its June peak amid July's brutal AI-trade selloff.
