DRAM Price Increases Moderate, NAND Rally Faces Lack of Momentum

According to the latest spot price report from TrendForce, the upward momentum in DRAM spot prices has softened since late July.

Specifically, prices for 4Gb DDR4 and 2Gb DDR3 chips have seen only modest gains amid limited trading volumes. While the 512Gb TLC Wafer in the NAND flash segment experienced a 4.55% price increase this week, the rally remains fragile due to a lack of robust buying demand.

For the week spanning July 29 to August 4, the DRAM spot market exhibited a largely sideways trading pattern. Although 4Gb DDR4 and 2Gb DDR3 chips continued to rise slightly, the pace of these gains has slowed compared to the latter half of July. Overall, buyers and sellers have yet to reach a consensus on pricing, resulting in limited actual transactions. A mainstream chip, such as the DDR4 1Gx8 3200MT/s, saw its price increase by just 0.17% this week, moving from US$42.04 to US$42.11.

In the NAND spot market, subdued end-user consumer demand has led to continued sluggish activity. The primary reason is that the demand recovery is not yet broad-based, keeping actual transaction volumes low. As a result, the current price rebound lacks sufficient follow-through momentum without strong, widespread buying support. As of August 3, the spot price for the 512Gb TLC Wafer rose 4.55% to US$20.13 per unit.
