U.S. stocks fell on Monday as oil prices surged after President Donald Trump announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, with peace talks between the U.S. and Iran over the weekend ending without a deal.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 356 points, or 0.7%. The S&P 500 shed 0.3%, as did the Nasdaq Composite.
Big tech stocks mixed in morning trading. Nvidia fell 1%, while Palantir rose 1%.
