LOPAL TECH (02465) shares surged more than 9% during Hong Kong trading hours. As of the time of writing, the stock had gained 8.13%, trading at HK$10.37, with a turnover of HK$105 million.

According to research by Ddadong Times Think Tank, which surveyed 37 mainstream battery companies and their upstream and downstream supply chains, China's total lithium battery market production for August 2026 is estimated at approximately 304 GWh, a sequential increase of 7.4%. Global production of power, energy storage, and consumer batteries is projected to reach about 317 GWh, up 7.1% month-on-month. The August production data surpassed the think tank's early July forecast range of 3% to 5%.

Additionally, the lithium iron phosphate (LFP) industry leader, Hunan Yuneng, plans to uniformly increase processing fees for its entire LFP product series by RMB 2,000 per ton starting August 1, 2026. Dongwu Securities believes the lithium battery sector is oversold despite strong fundamentals and is optimistic about a rebound. The brokerage noted that August production expectations are up 5-10% sequentially, better than previous market forecasts. Dongwu forecasts industry demand to grow by over 35% this year, with another 25%+ growth expected in 2027. The incremental demand is mainly from overseas power and energy storage markets. Energy storage battery shipments are expected to reach 1,100 GWh in 2026 (up over 70% year-on-year) and nearly 40% growth to 1,500 GWh in 2027, indicating a continued upward trend for the overall industry.
