On the news front, on July 19, China Reform Holdings announced it had utilized over 50 billion yuan in relending and supporting funds to increase holdings of central state-owned enterprise (SOE) stocks. China Chengtong Holdings Group also indicated it had cumulatively invested nearly 10 billion yuan in deploying assets in central SOEs and technology sectors.

Key Market Trend

Notably, fund flows into broad-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have shown a significant rebound. Over the past week, the net inflow into all market ETFs combined reached 2290.83 billion yuan, with broad-based ETFs accounting for a net inflow of 1561.28 billion yuan.

Sector Outlook and Analysis

Analysis suggests that against a backdrop of increased market volatility and the potential for further reinforcement of market-stabilizing funds, broad-based ETFs, as crucial tools for market stability and asset allocation, are likely to see further growth in capital inflows.

The banking sector, characterized by its substantial weighting in broad indices, defensive qualities, and dividend attributes, stands to benefit. With weightings of approximately 9.5% in the CSI 300, 14.8% in the SSE 50, and 1.0% in the CSI 500 indices, the sector is poised to gain from the resurgence of capital into broad-based ETFs and the rising demand for defensive market allocations.
