Upcoming Road Closures: Construction on S228 Highway Section Announced

The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Highway Development Center has announced a full road closure for a section of the S228 highway as part of the 2025 pavement rehabilitation project.

The affected section is on the S228 line from Kalamaili to Jiangjun Gobi in Qitai County (K214+000 to K243+816). This segment will be completely closed to traffic from August 2, 2026, to September 30, 2026, for construction by Xinjiang Road and Bridge Construction Group Co., Ltd.

During this period, all vehicles must use designated detours. Vehicles heading towards Qinghe should exit the main road at the K244 marker, take the right-side detour, and re-enter the S228 main line at the K206 marker. Conversely, vehicles heading towards Qitai County should exit the main road at the K206 marker, take the left-side detour, and re-enter the main line at the K244 marker.

All drivers and pedestrians are advised to plan their routes in advance. Trespassing into the closed construction zone is strictly prohibited. Individuals who ignore this directive will be held fully responsible for any resulting traffic safety risks or property damage, and may face legal action. Those who cause damage to the road or construction equipment will be required to pay full repair costs.
