Shares of SOUTHGOBI (01878) rallied more than 3% during Hong Kong trading hours, with the stock last up 3.64% to HK$1.71 at the time of writing, recording a turnover of HK$54.98 million.

On the news front, the company recently unveiled its financial results for the second quarter of 2026. During the April-to-June period, the group posted revenue of US$212 million, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 36.31%. The net loss attributable to equity holders of the company narrowed to US$5.324 million, a substantial improvement of 76.66% compared with the same period last year. Basic and diluted loss per share stood at US$0.018.

For the first half of 2026, the group generated revenue of US$381 million, up 36.99% from the prior-year period. The net loss attributable to equity holders of the company contracted to US$13.36 million, representing a year-on-year narrowing of 72.74%. Basic and diluted loss per share was reported at US$0.045.

During the second quarter of 2026, the company achieved an average realized selling price of US$60.6 per tonne, up from US$52.6 per tonne in the corresponding period of 2025. The uplift in the average realized selling price was primarily driven by a higher proportion of premium semi-soft coking coal sales during the April-to-June period, coupled with an improved average realized selling price for that product segment.
