Multiple Regions Across China Announce Minimum Wage Increases

Several regions have recently declared that they will raise their minimum wage standards starting this year. Guangdong Province's government has issued a notice outlining adjustments to its monthly and hourly minimum wages for part-time workers, set to take effect from September 1, 2026, according to reports from the Daily Economic News.

The new standards in Guangdong are divided into three tiers. Guangzhou and Shenzhen will implement the first tier, with monthly wages adjusted to 2,680 yuan and 2,700 yuan respectively, and a corresponding hourly rate of 25.4 yuan for part-time work. The second tier, covering Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, and Zhongshan, will see monthly wages set at 2,300 yuan, with an hourly rate of 21.9 yuan for part-time employees. The third tier, applicable to 14 other cities including Shantou, Shaoguan, Heyuan, Meizhou, Huizhou, Shanwei, Jiangmen, Yangjiang, Zhanjiang, Maoming, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Chaozhou, Jieyang, and Yunfu, will have a monthly minimum of 2,040 yuan and an hourly part-time rate of 20.2 yuan.

Shanxi Province is also increasing its minimum wage effective October 1. The new monthly standards for full-time workers are divided into three tiers: 2,350 yuan for the first category, 2,250 yuan for the second, and 2,150 yuan for the third. Hourly rates for full-time work will be 13.5 yuan, 12.9 yuan, and 12.4 yuan respectively, while part-time hourly rates will be set at 25.3 yuan, 24.2 yuan, and 23.3 yuan across the three categories.

According to an official notice from Xinjiang's human resources and social security department, the autonomous region will adjust its minimum wage standards effective October 1, 2026. The new monthly minimums for full-time workers are set at three levels: 2,270 yuan, 2,080 yuan, and 1,930 yuan. For part-time workers, the hourly minimum wages will be 22.7 yuan, 20.8 yuan, and 19.3 yuan across the corresponding tiers.
