At the 2026 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference held from October 20 to 22 at the Huangpu Expo Park in Shanghai, Qian Xiaoyu, PR Director and ESG Head of Tuya Inc. (NYSE: TUYA), participated in the sub-forum themed "Corporate Breakthroughs: Green Development and Global Competition and Cooperation" and took part in a panel dialogue.
Regarding the key role ESG plays in helping enterprises expand overseas, Qian Xiaoyu shared three perspectives.
Qian Xiaoyu believes that the value of ESG first lies in helping companies better respond to regulation and compliance requirements, reducing compliance risks in cross-border operations.
The second point is trust. Qian Xiaoyu pointed out that overseas markets often do not depend on how outstanding a company's products and commercial value are, but rather on whether the local market trusts the company.
In addition, in Qian Xiaoyu's view, for many companies doing overseas business, ESG often directly affects orders. "In our own case, we have more than 60 Fortune Global 500 clients. Many times they check whether you meet ESG standards and whether you have undergone ESG audits. If not, you may not even be able to enter their supplier system. So this directly affects whether you have the qualification to negotiate the business and whether you have the qualification to participate in bidding," Qian Xiaoyu explained.
Qian Xiaoyu emphasized that in every respect, ESG is an extremely important matter.
