Recently, inside the production facility of Jishi Motors in Qingdao, robotic arms operated with precision as workers carried out meticulous tasks, with brand-new new energy vehicles rolling off the line after completing assembly, performance testing, dust-proofing, and full-vehicle calibration. Once all metrics met the required standards, these vehicles were set to depart for Egypt.

In recent years, under the deep empowerment of the Belt and Road Initiative, China-Africa economic and trade cooperation has continued to improve in quality and upgrade, with trade exchanges between China and African nations becoming increasingly close and industrial complementarity steadily emerging. The export of complete vehicles and supporting components has become a core growth driver in China-Africa trade, with Egypt, as a key hub country in North Africa, offering vast potential in the new energy vehicle market. "With Egypt's infrastructure upgrades and strong local demand for better travel quality, the scale of high-performance, highly adaptable commercial and civilian vehicles continues to grow, gradually making it an important base for automakers to deepen their presence in North Africa," said Dai Xiaojing, manager of Jishi (Qingdao) International Trade Co., Ltd.

To seize market opportunities, local automakers in Qingdao have leveraged their complete automotive industrial chain advantages and strong product research and development capabilities to precisely meet Egyptian market demand and carry out localized customization and development of complete vehicles. In response to the local climate of high temperatures and sandstorms, companies have optimized core performance areas such as vehicle heat dissipation and dust prevention, precisely addressing local vehicle usage pain points. "Egypt is located in North Africa, with year-round high temperatures, drought, and heavy sandstorms. Road and climate conditions place higher demands on vehicle heat dissipation, dust prevention, range and charging, and durability. Especially for high-temperature environments, we have strengthened the vehicle's thermal management and air conditioning performance under high-temperature conditions, giving us a significant advantage in competition with similar international products," Dai Xiaojing explained. In the first eight months of this year, the company exported electric vehicles to Egypt worth 134 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 200%.

For domestically produced electric vehicles going overseas, it is important to actively explore markets and steadily "go global," while also firmly establishing compliance baselines to ensure high-quality "stable and successful" expansion. Qingdao Dagang Customs, based on its regulatory and service functions, precisely aligns with the export needs of new energy vehicles, proactively disseminates early warnings on technical trade measures in foreign markets, and guides companies to conduct advance document pre-review and standardize documentation, avoiding risks of overseas port detention and return shipments caused by non-compliant standards or missing materials. "We conduct advance export compliance pre-review, regularly inspect safety risks at regulatory sites, optimize customs clearance supervision processes, and implement facilitation measures such as priority inspection, one-stop declaration, and appointment-based customs clearance, fully ensuring the safe, efficient, and smooth overseas expansion of domestically produced new energy vehicles," said Zhou Zhongjun, chief of the sixth inspection section of Qingdao Dagang Customs.

According to statistics, in the first eight months of this year, Qingdao's export value to Egypt reached 3.332 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.7%, with electric vehicle exports growing 177.7% year-on-year.
