Circle has officially unveiled the Arc Layer 1 blockchain mainnet, a network purpose-built for stablecoin payments and financial market applications, with its defining feature being the integration of USDC as the native Gas Token to facilitate an efficient agent-based trading environment. The technical specifications were disclosed via a blog post on Wednesday, confirming the network's compatibility with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) and its capability to deliver sub-second finality.

The Arc network currently supports more than 20 fiat-backed stablecoins, including USDC, EURC, JPYC, KRW1, and TRYB, and has also integrated BlackRock (BLK.US)'s BUIDL Token along with Circle's own USYC Token. According to aggregated data from Woofun AI, Arc achieves interoperability with over 20 other blockchains through the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) and associated gateways, establishing vital pathways for asset mobility across disparate networks.

Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire has characterized this launch as the most significant product release in the company's history since the inception of USDC, while the firm's official X platform account emphasized its commitment to cultivating a proxy-based economy for programmable money and global markets. The infrastructure is designed for developers and institutional participants, having already attracted over 100 enterprises including BlackRock (BLK.US), Goldman Sachs (GS.US), Mastercard (MA.US), and Visa (V.US) during its testnet phase that began in October 2025, with institutional and builder participation remaining steady at over 100 entities throughout the private mainnet testing period in August.

Looking ahead, the roadmap indicates plans to progressively expand ecosystem participation, with a scheduled transition from Proof of Authority to a Proof of Stake consensus mechanism targeted for 2027. This week, Circle completed the initial minting of 10 billion ARC Tokens, though the company explicitly clarified that this action does not necessarily signal an impending public offering, marking a cautious step toward decentralized governance for the stablecoin infrastructure protocol.
