The extended sideways movement serves a constructive purpose by facilitating deleveraging across the market, Jin noted. A daily close above $82,500 would signal that the supply overhang is being resolved, while a breakdown below $76,600—a level that approximates the average cost basis of short-term holders—would point to underlying weakness and could trigger further downside pressure.

Capital flows represent the most significant variable in the current equation. Data compiled by Woofun AI shows that US spot Bitcoin ETFs have recorded net inflows of approximately $2.8 billion over eight consecutive trading sessions through August 26, pushing August's total to $3.3 billion—the strongest monthly figure so far this year. This sustained spot buying is absorbing sell orders at higher price levels, yet investors should monitor three key indicators: ETF flow momentum, the Coinbase (COIN.US) premium level, and the seven-day average realized profit/loss ratio. If at least two of these metrics deteriorate simultaneously, it would signal a loss of buying power.

Despite the fraud allegations surrounding BitForex, Jin's technical framework retains analytical merit. Bitcoin's near-term trajectory hinges on whether it can secure the $82,500 level to confirm the elimination of excess supply; until then, range-bound trading is the most probable scenario.
