What changes will this National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday bring to travel patterns? What new offerings are available? Recently, Meituan Travel released relevant data showing that this year's National Day holiday travel peak is expected to last from September 27 to October 12. As of late September, the platform's 2025 National Day cultural and tourism bookings showed a year-over-year growth rate exceeding 70%, with post-2000 young travelers accounting for 60% of bookings, and high-end hotel order volume growing 115% year-over-year. During the National Day period, Jiangsu's cultural and tourism order volume growth exceeded 50%.

The extended holiday has sparked multiple travel modes including long-distance inter-provincial trips, short-distance peripheral tours, and local immersive experiences. According to Meituan Travel's predictions, cultural relic tours, border gate tours, stargazing tours, high-altitude tours, niche ethnic makeup experiences, learning crafts from intangible cultural heritage representatives, staying at hotels near morning markets, exploring industrial heritage sites, recreating historical makeup for ancient architecture check-ins, and chasing concerts and music festivals will drive new holiday travel trends.

Visiting China's "Four Extremes" has become the poetry and distant dreams of young people. According to Meituan Travel data, during this year's National Day holiday, the Kizilsu Kirghiz Autonomous Prefecture where "Western Extreme" Wuqia County is located saw cultural and tourism growth of 114%, with flight and train ticket bookings increasing 135% year-over-year, and post-1995 travelers accounting for over 50%.

Cultural-tourism integration has become a new National Day travel trend. During the National Day holiday, the popularity of cultural relic tours, archaeological tours, museum tours, and industrial tourism continues to rise. Museums have become anchor points of tourist interest, driving increased searches for hotels and dining within a 3-kilometer radius. Meituan Travel data shows that search volumes for Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum Museum, Nanjing Museum, Nanjing Folk Museum (Gan Xi's Former Residence), Nanjing Museum of Modern Chinese History (Nanjing Presidential Palace), Hanshan Temple, Six Dynasties Museum, and Taiping Heavenly Kingdom History Museum (Zhanyuan) all surged significantly in the early National Day period.

Traditional Chinese style travel is booming. Since September 1 this year, searches for "historical makeup recreation" increased 20% year-over-year, with Luoyang, Xi'an, Suzhou, Beijing, and Datong becoming the top 5 destinations for historical makeup recreation searches.

High-end hotels have also transformed from "accommodation carriers" to "cultural venues." Meituan Travel data shows that as of September 19, Jiangsu's National Day five-star hotel order volume grew over 80% year-over-year, with distinctive star-rated hotels becoming one of the "deep tourism destinations."

Meituan Travel analysts predict that during this National Day holiday, "cultural tourism + various industries" will boost more tourism destinations. New tourism models such as industrial tourism and sports tourism are emerging, attracting visitors to stay an extra night and driving comprehensive upgrades in local tourism, dining, leisure, and entertainment offerings, with the integrated development of agriculture, culture, sports, tourism, and commerce deepening.

As the beautiful landscapes of the motherland gradually don "autumn attire" during the National Day period, the trend of advance bookings for autumn scenery destination hotels is evident.

Ctrip's recently released 2025 National Day Travel Trend Forecast shows that Golden Week inter-provincial tour orders increased 45% year-over-year. Among these, the Jiangsu-Zhejiang region, with its "water town autumn charm, mountain forest autumn colors, and coastal autumn light" triple matrix, saw hotel popularity rise over 20% year-over-year. Destinations like Suzhou Zhouzhuang, Wuxi Yuantouzhu, and Zhoushan Daqingshan showed significant popularity increases, reflecting tourists' continued yearning for natural autumn scenery.

Tongcheng Travel data also confirms this trend. On the platform, hotel booking popularity for popular autumn scenery destinations with check-in dates during the Mid-Autumn and National Day holidays increased over 30% year-over-year. Meanwhile, as mass tourism and family visit travel demands are concentrated, highly popular red tourism scenic spots will become important drivers for activating local and surrounding high-frequency tourism consumption.

Data from various platforms shows that emotional value, time efficiency, and cost-effectiveness have become the three key factors influencing tourists' travel decisions during National Day. "Check-in tourism" is gradually giving way to "immersive vacations," with traveler preferences rapidly shifting from simple "sightseeing" to "experiencing."
