On February 8, Elon Musk posted that it is time for a large-scale return to the Moon.

Additionally, reports indicate that SpaceX is hiring engineers in Austin and Seattle to develop AI satellites and space data centers. Musk shared a related post and confirmed the news, stating it is true.

On December 28, 2025, NASA's new administrator, Jared Isaacman, made his first public remarks since taking office, stating that the United States will return to the Moon during Trump's second term. Specific actions include establishing space data centers and infrastructure, as well as mining helium-3, an isotope of helium, on the Moon. After building a "lunar base," NASA will consider investing in nuclear energy and nuclear propulsion for further exploration.

Currently, NASA is collaborating with SpaceX, Blue Origin, Boeing, and other companies on launch missions related to the Artemis program.

On December 18, 2025, the White House issued a statement announcing that President Trump had signed an executive order outlining a vision for an "America First" space policy to ensure U.S. leadership in space exploration, security, and commerce.

The order mandates that Americans return to the Moon by 2028 and establish initial facilities for a permanent lunar outpost by 2030. It also directs the deployment of nuclear reactors on the Moon and in orbit. By upgrading launch infrastructure and developing commercial pathways to replace the International Space Station by 2030, the order aims to stimulate private-sector innovation and investment. It instructs the President's Science and Technology Advisor to coordinate national space policy efforts and directs federal departments and agencies to implement the order collectively, including streamlining procurement processes, implementing relevant space security strategies, and ensuring adequate human resources to achieve these goals.
