Home Depot has eliminated approximately 800 positions related to its corporate headquarters, a move intended to accelerate operational speed and sharpen the company's focus on its frontline employees.

The home improvement retailer also announced that, starting the week of April 6, its headquarters staff will be required to work from the office five days per week.

According to the company's most recent annual filing, it employed 470,100 people as of the end of the 2024 fiscal year, meaning the layoffs affect roughly 0.2% of its total workforce.

The company stated that these adjustments are designed to streamline Home Depot's corporate operations, enabling better support for its stores and customers.

A company spokesperson said in a statement, "Our goal is to enhance flexibility, allow the company to act more swiftly, and maintain a closer connection with our frontline associates."

Home Depot indicated that the job cuts impact fewer than 150 positions at its Atlanta headquarters, with the remainder being remote workers.

The company said it will provide severance packages, transition benefits, and job placement support to the affected employees.
