July Producer Prices Drop 3.2% Month-on-Month

The latest data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows a notable decline in Liaoning's industrial producer prices for July.

On August 11, the Liaoning Survey Office of the National Bureau of Statistics released survey data, revealing that Liaoning's Producer Price Index (PPI) fell by 3.2% month-on-month in July, widening the decline by 2.4 percentage points from the previous month. On a year-on-year basis, the PPI rose by 2.6%, a slowdown of 3.9 percentage points from the prior month.

The Industrial Producer Purchasing Price Index (IPI) decreased by 1.3% month-on-month, expanding the decline by 0.6 percentage points from the previous month. Year-on-year, the IPI rose by 4.7%, a slowdown of 0.9 percentage points from the prior month. In the first seven months of the year, the PPI rose by 1.1% cumulatively, while the IPI increased by 1.0%.

Breaking down the data by major categories: In July, the producer price for means of production rose by 4.6% year-on-year, a slowdown of 4.4 percentage points from the previous month. Within this, raw materials industry prices increased by 7.5%, mining industry prices rose by 5.6%, and processing industry prices grew by 1.5%. Meanwhile, the producer price for consumer goods dropped by 5.5% year-on-year, with durable consumer goods falling by 10.9%, food by 1.1%, general daily necessities by 0.7%, and clothing by 0.6%.

In July, among the nine major categories of raw material purchase prices, six showed year-on-year increases, while three experienced declines. Non-ferrous metal materials and wire prices surged by 16.8%, chemical raw materials rose by 10.1%, fuel and power prices increased by 6.2%, ferrous metal materials grew by 3.7%, timber and pulp prices rose by 1.3%, and agricultural and sideline products increased by 1.1%. On the other hand, textile raw materials fell by 0.2%, other industrial raw materials and semi-finished products declined by 0.9%, and construction materials and non-metallic products dropped by 1.6%.
