Three major U.S. stock indexes opened with modest gains at the start of trading.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.22%, the S&P 500 increased by 0.13%, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.23%.

In the chip sector, semiconductor stocks showed strength with NVIDIA climbing nearly 2% and SK hynix jumping close to 3% in early trade.
