Two Landslides in Fengqing County, Yunnan, Leave Four Missing

According to the official WeChat account of the Ministry of Natural Resources, two slope collapses occurred in Fengshan Town, Fengqing County, Lincang City, Yunnan Province, on August 23, leaving four people missing. In response, the Ministry activated a Level IV geological disaster defense response for Yunnan at 2:00 PM on the same day and dispatched a working group to the site to guide rescue and relief operations.

The Ministry has instructed the Department of Natural Resources of Yunnan Province to immediately dispatch an expert working group to the scene to assist local authorities in providing technical support for search and rescue operations and emergency response efforts. It also urged authorities to draw lessons from the incident and strengthen geological hazard inspections, monitoring, early warning, and preventive measures in similar situations across the region.

Additionally, the China Geological Survey and the Technical Guidance Center for Geological Disasters under the Ministry of Natural Resources have been tasked with enhancing expert coordination, organizational management, and consultation and assessment efforts to fully assist and guide technical support operations.
