Tesla Motors' German factory head André Thierig told media that thanks to "very excellent sales data," the facility's electric vehicle production will exceed previous plans.
Thierig stated that the factory located near Berlin "has increased production plans for the third and fourth quarters," adding that Tesla Motors still expects "positive signals from all markets it supplies."
However, he did not disclose specific figures for the new production targets. This optimistic statement contrasts with recent sales data. Last month, Tesla Motors' new vehicle registrations in Germany declined 39%, while registrations for the first eight months of this year plummeted 56%.
Sales also dropped significantly in August across France, Belgium, Denmark, and Sweden. Norway was an exception, where Tesla Motors' monthly registrations grew 21%, with cumulative growth of 26% year-to-date.
