Stock Track | Adobe Plummets 9.95% Intraday on CFO Exit and Freemium Strategy Shift Despite Earnings Beat

Stock Track

Adobe's stock plummeted 9.95% during Friday's intraday trading session, marking a significant decline for the software giant.

The sharp drop comes despite the company reporting stronger-than-expected fiscal second-quarter results and raising its full-year outlook. Adobe announced that Chief Financial Officer Dan Durn will depart on June 15 to join chipmaker Marvell Technology, compounding existing leadership uncertainty as CEO Shantanu Narayen had previously announced his plan to step down after 18 years at the helm.

Investors were particularly concerned about Adobe's strategic pivot toward a "freemium" model for its artificial intelligence products, which management acknowledged will pressure near-term annual recurring revenue growth as the company prioritizes user acquisition over immediate monetization. This shift overshadowed the positive earnings report, which showed revenue rising 13% to $6.62 billion and adjusted EPS of $5.96 beating estimates.
