China Merchants Bank appoints Wang Xiaoqing as President, effective upon regulatory clearance

China Merchants Bank (CMB) announced that its Board of Directors unanimously approved the appointment of Wang Xiaoqing as President at the meeting held on 30 April 2026. The term will commence once the National Financial Regulatory Administration confirms his qualification and will run through the remainder of the bank’s thirteenth Board session.

Wang Xiaoqing, born in October 1971, holds a doctoral degree in Political Economics from Fudan University and is currently Secretary of the CPC CMB Committee. His prior leadership roles include Executive Vice President of China Merchants Bank, General Manager of China Merchants Financial Holdings, Chairman of CIGNA & CMB Life Insurance, and key management posts at PICC Asset Management and China Merchants Fund Management.

According to the disclosure, Wang owns 0.06 million A shares of China Merchants Bank and has no reported conflicts of interest, regulatory penalties, or disqualifications. Remuneration will follow the bank’s senior management compensation policies, to be detailed in future annual reports.

Until regulatory approval is secured, Wang will perform the duties of President on an acting basis, ensuring operational continuity at China Merchants Bank.
