Forum Energy Technologies (FET) has introduced its latest subsea handling solution, the Model 6000 Launch and Recovery System (LARS), as part of its underwater equipment portfolio. The M6000, developed under the company's Dynacon product line, offers a compact, integrated solution designed for inspection and light work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) operations. This system combines an A-frame, winch, and hydraulic power unit into a single skid-mounted package, enabling single-point lifting without the need for additional cable or hose connections. This integration streamlines the mobilization and demobilization process, reducing vessel interface time and spatial requirements.

The first M6000 system, equipped with a Perry Super Mohawk ROV, was delivered to a U.S.-based client earlier this year and is now operational. Manufactured and tested at FET's facility in Bryan, Texas, the system allowed for client liaison and observation during the production phase. It is specifically engineered for deployment with inspection and small work-class ROVs, such as FET's Comanche and Super Mohawk models, delivering high performance in areas including inspection, maintenance and repair, cable laying, and pipeline or structural surveys. Applications extend to offshore wind farms, dam inspections, pre-survey tasks, and light construction work.

Key features of the M6000 include a gimbal docking head with swing and tilt functions, a compact footprint, and pre-wired, plug-and-play electrical integration. These attributes enhance safety and operational efficiency by minimizing setup time and improving reliability on-site. The system's design has received certification from DNV and incorporates advanced hydraulic and control technologies. With a safe working load of up to 5,200 kilograms and an umbilical capacity of 3,300 meters, the M6000 provides robust performance while maintaining a reduced footprint. Following a successful field deployment with a client earlier this year, the model is scheduled to enter full production in 2025.
