Henan's 2025 GDP Surpasses 6.66 Trillion Yuan, Up 5.6% Year-on-Year

According to the results of the unified accounting of regional gross domestic product, the province's GDP reached 6,663.279 billion yuan (RMB, same below) in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 5.6% calculated at constant prices.

"Henan's economic performance in 2025 showed a positive trend of stability with improvement, moving towards new and superior qualities, and enhanced resilience," said Wang Xu, Director of the Henan Provincial Bureau of Statistics, at the press conference. He reported that in 2025, the value added of the province's primary industry was 553.808 billion yuan, up 3.6% year-on-year; the secondary industry's value added was 2,492.680 billion yuan, up 5.5%; and the tertiary industry's value added was 3,616.792 billion yuan, up 6.0%, indicating a more stable pattern of coordinated development among the three industries.

With the landing of a number of major industrial projects such as Zhengzhou BYD, Chaoju Bian, and Luoyang Zhongzhou Times, Henan's pace in building a strong manufacturing province has accelerated. In 2025, the value added of industrial enterprises above the designated size in the province increased by 8.4% year-on-year. Among 41 major industrial categories, 32 saw year-on-year growth in value added, with the growth coverage rate reaching 78.0%. The equipment manufacturing sector provided strong support, with its value added surging 13.6%, contributing 44.1% to the growth of industrial enterprises above the designated size. The growth of leading industries also accelerated.

Wang Xu noted that new economic drivers are rapidly accumulating in the province. In 2025, the value added of high-tech manufacturing industries above the designated size increased by 16.6% year-on-year, maintaining double-digit rapid growth for 30 consecutive months. The value added of strategic emerging industries in industry grew by 13.0%, the highest growth rate since 2022. The supply of new products increased rapidly, with the output of integrated circuits and lithium-ion batteries growing by 71.0% and 53.8%, respectively. Investment in the manufacturing of electronic components and specialized electronic materials surged 34.6%, enhancing economic resilience.

In recent years, Henan has fully implemented special actions to boost consumption, combining efforts to stimulate consumption and benefit people's livelihoods. Wang Zhenli, Director of the Henan Provincial Department of Commerce, stated at the press conference that the province's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 2.90 trillion yuan in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%. The policy of subsidizing the replacement of old consumer goods provided subsidies totaling 18.250 billion yuan throughout the year, generating large-scale consumption exceeding 110 billion yuan in areas like automobiles and home appliances, benefiting 12 million person-times.

Simultaneously, new forms of consumption in Henan developed rapidly, and the potential of service consumption was unleashed. Data showed that in 2025, the retail sales of photographic equipment, smartphones, and new energy vehicles by units above the designated size in the province increased by 108.7%, 67.0%, and 19.3%, respectively. The development of live-streaming e-commerce and instant retail accelerated across the province, with over 200 large-scale live-streaming e-commerce bases established.
