Regulatory Visit Targets Production Standards and Intelligent Vehicle Safety

The Equipment Industry Department of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) conducted on-site inspections on the 24th at GAC Aion New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. and Zhaoqing XPeng Automotive Co., Ltd. The primary goal was to strengthen the competitive order within the automotive industry and enhance product consistency and quality safety.

Scope of the Inspection

The inspections focused on evaluating the companies' capabilities in product safety assurance and production consistency for road motor vehicles. Key areas under review included the maintenance of production access conditions, specifically their intelligent connected vehicle safety assurance capabilities, design and development capabilities, and production consistency assurance capabilities. During the process, authorities randomly selected sample vehicles and power batteries from the production lines. These samples were then forwarded to relevant institutions for testing, including compliance checks with national standards.

Future Regulatory Actions

The MIIT Equipment Industry Department announced that it will continue to organize similar inspections on automobile and motorcycle manufacturers and their products. Any company found to have issues during these checks will face strict legal action. The ministry emphasized its commitment to firmly upholding the safety bottom line for automotive products and effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
