Today, the Heilongjiang Xinhua Book City, located on Diduan Street, has reopened after a comprehensive renovation. The book city is dedicated to creating an urban cultural hub that integrates cultural experiences, reading promotion, research and study activities, and public welfare services, establishing itself as a new landmark for the "Scholarly Heilongjiang" initiative.

Upon entering the Heilongjiang Xinhua Book City, visitors are greeted by a rich literary atmosphere. The interior is bright, clean, and elegantly arranged. Longtime patrons can rediscover cherished memories while enjoying a fresh and enhanced experience in the new environment. The renovation covered an area of over 6,000 square meters, with more than 60,000 carefully selected books now available to meet the reading needs of all age groups, from early childhood education and youth development to the cultural enrichment of adults.

The book city has moved beyond the traditional model of simply selling books. It has transitioned from a "bookstore" to a "cultural space," from a "commercial outlet" to a "hub for public reading," and from providing "basic services" to offering "tailored services for all ages." This transformation sets a benchmark for the upgrade of physical bookstores across the province.

Furthermore, the book city is innovating with an integrated "reading+" development model, incorporating new elements such as AI-assisted research, smart self-study areas, intangible cultural heritage experiences, aesthetic and traditional Chinese culture education, and film and television culture. It has also partnered with universities, science associations, and educational foundations to establish practical education bases, fostering a collaborative ecosystem for public reading that involves government, enterprises, schools, and communities. This approach breaks down barriers to reading and makes culture more accessible and tangible.

To date, nearly 40 Xinhua bookstores across the province have undergone similar transformations. These revitalized stores have become prominent cultural landmarks, continuously infusing vitality into the high-quality development of Heilongjiang's cultural sector.
