Novo Nordisk's chief executive has openly floated the possibility of acquisitions as the company navigates an increasingly crowded weight-loss drug market. Mike Doustdar, who leads the Danish pharmaceutical giant, confirmed that a range of strategic opportunities are under active review. Speaking on Tuesday during an appearance on the "Squawk Box Europe" program, Doustdar outlined the company's approach to potential deals. "We will identify gaps in our portfolio and look for companies that have developed, or are about to launch, treatments that may outperform our own in-house efforts," he said. "If an acquisition can fill those gaps, we have a very strong interest in pursuing it."

The CEO's remarks suggest a willingness to use its substantial financial firepower to accelerate innovation rather than relying solely on internal research and development.
