Aurora Cannabis Inc. announced on Tuesday a new round of donations to multiple veterans' organizations through its 'Heroic Strain' medical cannabis program, further expanding its support for the Canadian veteran community in areas such as food security, mental health, and community engagement.
Geoff Hoover, Senior Vice President of Aurora's Canadian commercial operations, stated, "We remain committed to supporting veterans in meaningful ways when it matters most. This begins by listening, understanding the needs of veterans today, and engaging directly to support the work being done within veteran communities across the nation."
In line with Aurora's ongoing commitment, the company donates 5% of the net profits from 'Heroic Strain' product sales annually to veterans' organizations, with an annual cap of $200,000. The latest round of donations supports several veteran-led initiatives. These include the Veterans Association Food Bank, which provides food distribution for veteran families; the Captain Nichola Goddard Fund, which assists female service members, veterans, and their families in accessing crucial services; and national mental health awareness campaigns such as Sach in Motion and Sea to Sea for PTSD, which support PTSD treatment and education programs.
The 'Heroic Strain' program was launched in 2022 and developed in collaboration with veteran patients. It aims to guide the development of tailored medical cannabis products based on feedback from veterans regarding aroma, appearance, and effects. Since its introduction, the product line has developed five special strains named by veterans. Other partners in the program include Highway for Heroes, Quilts of Valour Canada, True Patriot Love, and Fire Team K-9.
This deepened support from Aurora comes at a time when veterans are facing challenges. The Canadian government's 2025 budget will reduce the reimbursement ceiling for veterans' medical cannabis from $8.50 per gram to $6 per gram, effective April 1, 2026. Critics warn this change could force veterans to turn to non-medical products or disrupt effective treatments.
As a global leader in medical cannabis, Aurora reported a record $76.2 million in global medical cannabis net revenue for its fiscal 2026 third quarter, ended December 31, 2025. This represents a 12% year-over-year increase, primarily driven by double-digit growth in the German and Polish markets. The company reiterated its plan to leverage its global GMP manufacturing facilities and scientific expertise to continue supporting the medical needs of veterans.
