Direxion Daily Semiconductors Bull 3x Shares (SOXL) tumbled 5.09% in pre-market trading on Thursday, as multiple headwinds converged to pressure the semiconductor sector. The leveraged ETF, which provides 3x daily exposure to an index tracking the thirty largest U.S. listed semiconductor companies, fell to $152.8 per share with turnover reaching $261 million.

The decline was triggered by a broad selloff in Asian semiconductor stocks, with Hong Kong and A-share chip names facing heavy pressure. Hua Hong Semiconductor dropped over 7%, while SMIC and GigaDevice also declined significantly, transmitting bearish sentiment to U.S. pre-market trading.

Adding to the sector's woes, mounting chip inflation concerns further dampened investor appetite. TSMC is reportedly planning to raise advanced and mature process wafer prices by up to 10% in 2027, with an additional 10-15% premium on high-performance computing orders exceeding forecasts. Meanwhile, Korean DRAM export prices have surged 370% year-over-year, far exceeding historical cycle peaks, fueling fears that rising costs could pressure the AI-driven demand cycle.
