AstraZeneca Posts 6% Revenue Growth in First Half, Maintains Full-Year Forecast

AstraZeneca PLC released its financial results for the first half and second quarter of 2026 today. The report indicates that total revenue for the first half reached $30.672 billion, representing a 6% increase year-on-year at constant exchange rates. Revenue for the second quarter was $15.384 billion, a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. The company has confirmed its full-year guidance for total revenue and core earnings per share, while reiterating its long-term goal of achieving $80 billion in total revenue by 2030.

Regarding key financial metrics, core earnings per share for the first half stood at $5.21, an 11% increase year-on-year. Core earnings per share for the second quarter were $2.63, a robust 18% increase year-on-year, surpassing market expectations of $2.48. Pre-tax profit was $2.799 billion, a decline of 11% year-on-year, while net profit reached approximately $2.51 billion, a 2% increase year-on-year. The company declared an interim dividend increase of 3 cents, bringing it to $1.06 per share.

By business segment, the oncology division remains the primary growth driver, with second-quarter revenue rising 16% to $7.327 billion. Revenue from the rare disease business grew by 9%, while the respiratory and immunology unit posted a 13% revenue increase. The Chief Executive Officer stated that the first-half performance was strong, with continued pipeline progress, including multiple positive Phase III trials and initial approvals in key markets. Despite a clinical trial that did not meet expectations earlier this month, the company expressed confidence in its pipeline strength, noting that over 20 high-value data readouts are expected over the next 18 months.
