According to a recent report from Omdia, global semiconductor revenue surpassed $425 billion in the second quarter of 2026, setting yet another all-time high. This achievement was driven by a record-setting quarter-on-quarter growth rate of 31.4%, a figure never before seen in the industry's history.

The market's momentum continues to be heavily influenced by the unrelenting demand for artificial intelligence technologies and the firm pricing of memory chips. These factors propelled total semiconductor revenue for the first half of 2026 to an impressive $752 billion.

This latest quarterly expansion of 31.4% has eclipsed the previous growth record of 29.2% that was established in the first quarter of 2026. Since Omdia began its market tracking in the first quarter of 2002, spanning a total of 97 quarters, only 10 have managed to achieve a revenue increase exceeding 10% quarter-on-quarter. The last four quarters, starting from the third quarter of 2025, have all sustained double-digit sequential growth, and the momentum is expected to continue into the third quarter of 2026.

Memory chips remain the central engine of this growth, but it's noteworthy that other semiconductor components are also exceeding typical seasonal patterns. This broad-based strength across the sector is contributing to the overall robust market performance and solidifying the industry's upward trajectory.
