On April 27, Bank of China announced that it has submitted an application to the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited. The application seeks approval for a $40 billion medium-term note program, under which bonds may be issued, to be listed for a period of 12 months starting from April 27, 2026. The debt securities will be issued solely to professional investors. It is expected that the listing of the program will take effect from April 28, 2026.
