Movement Alert|WANGUO GOLD GP Falls 3.16% in Regular Trading, Gold Sector Under Broad Selling Pressure Ahead of Fed Decision

昨天

On September 15, WANGUO GOLD GP fell 3.16% in regular trading, trading at HK$14.7/share, with turnover of HK$129 million. The decline came amid a sector-wide selloff in gold and diversified metals stocks as spot gold slipped to $4,288/oz and domestic gold prices fell to 928 yuan/gram.

The gold sector remained under heavy pressure as elevated U.S. inflation data cemented expectations for a Fed rate hike at the upcoming policy meeting. The U.S. August final demand PPI rose 0.4% month-over-month and 5.4% year-over-year, slightly above consensus, reinforcing hawkish monetary policy expectations. Meanwhile, second-quarter global gold demand fell 14% year-over-year to 941.8 tonnes, with weakness in both investment and jewelry demand weighing on gold mining valuations.

Within the Diversified Metals and Mining sector, broad-based weakness persisted. Among peers, ZIJIN MINING fell 3.87%, LYGEND RESOURCE fell 3.85%, CMOC fell 2.82%, and MMG fell 2.49%. Despite WANGUO GOLD GP reporting strong interim results with revenue up 50.2% to RMB 1.863 billion and adjusted net profit up 49.3%, the systemic sector pullback and macro headwinds overshadowed company-specific fundamentals.
