During OPPO's 31st anniversary celebration, founder and CEO Chen Mingyong shared his latest insights in an internal address, touching on corporate culture, the AI revolution, and the company's future direction. He emphasized that OPPO has been continuously reflecting on the power of culture, and this year, the company distilled its core principle of "Benfen" into three key pillars: "a calm mind, grasping the essence, and thinking long-term."

Chen highlighted that in the face of mounting pressure and temptations, it's more important than ever to return to cultural foundations and contemplate what constitutes the right course of action. Among these three pillars, he placed particular emphasis on "grasping the essence," noting that as the company deepens its understanding of product value, it must identify the most fundamental and central value of its products and technologies to create offerings that truly resonate with users. "Looking ahead, the capability to grasp the essence will firmly take root at OPPO," he stated.

Addressing the widespread anxiety surrounding AI, Chen argued that the industry has overemphasized AI's role as a "productivity enhancement tool." "The arrival of AI is more about unleashing people's productivity and creativity, rather than merely improving efficiency, and certainly not replacing humans," he explained. "What we should truly consider is whether AI can solve challenges that were previously insurmountable, and whether it can be applied to our products and services to create new value. If we only see it as an efficiency booster, we fundamentally misunderstand the essence of AI."

Chen also dedicated time to discussing innovation, stating, "We don't just encourage innovation; we must nurture it, using innovation to deliver greater value to users through our products." Over the past two years, he has consistently stressed within the company that competitors should be placed last on the priority list, with user needs and corresponding technological innovation taking precedence. "While business is inseparable from competition, the essence of competition is not about learning from opponents or defeating them, but about accomplishing what they cannot do," he remarked.

Reflecting on the company's journey, Chen noted, "We are already 31 years old this year, and we aim to go even further." In his view, "The AI era must be human-centric, building an ecosystem of proactive, multi-device services based on understanding user intent." Additionally, he reaffirmed the company's commitment to increasing support for innovation, grassroots creativity, and long-term technological investment.
