The Shanghai Humanoid Robot Pilot Service Platform was officially unveiled and entered full operation on July 19th at the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC).

This platform is a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, involving the National-Local Joint Innovation Center for Humanoid Robots and Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd..

Designated as a demonstration pilot platform for Shanghai, it will open its comprehensive service chain—encompassing trial manufacturing, testing, and scenario validation—to the entire industry.

This initiative aims to address key industry challenges such as the difficulty in commercializing prototypes, instability in mass production, and high testing costs for humanoid robots.

Reportedly, the platform has a total floor area of approximately 6,800 square meters, divided into assembly zones, professional testing zones, and intelligent warehousing zones.

It has established two modular and flexible whole-machine trial production lines, compatible with the trial manufacturing of heterogeneous robots including humanoid, wheeled-arm, and quadruped robots, with an annual trial production capacity of 2,000 units.

It is also equipped with a precision component assembly line, supported by an ISO Class 7 cleanroom, capable of completing the trial manufacturing of 2,000 sets of core modules such as joints and dexterous hands annually.

A dedicated testing area is also part of the facility, featuring industry-first specialized equipment like a comprehensive dexterous hand testing bench, a high-speed treadmill for humanoids, and a walk-in high-low temperature environmental chamber.

This setup enables comprehensive performance validation of over 400 items for both components and complete machines.
