(Source: Caiwen) On September 28, seven departments—the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Commerce, the State Administration for Market Regulation, the National Energy Administration, and the National Railway Administration—jointly issued the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the New Battery Industry."
The plan states that the supply of high-end battery products will be enriched. For diverse application scenarios, the high-end, diversified, and integrated development of new battery products will be accelerated, and product safety and reliability will be improved. A new battery product supply system will be built with lithium batteries as the mainstay and sodium batteries, flow batteries, and others developing in coordination. The power and energy density of sodium batteries will be improved, high-conversion-efficiency flow batteries will be developed, and the iteration of products such as hybrid supercapacitors will be promoted. Batteries for lightweight and flexible consumer electronics will be upgraded, power batteries for new energy vehicles that are highly safe and suitable for all climates will be optimized, long-life and highly safe energy storage batteries that meet long-duration energy storage needs will be developed, and the supply level of batteries for low-altitude equipment, intelligent robots, and highly tolerant batteries for extreme environments such as aviation and deep-sea polar regions will be raised. The industrialization capacity of all-solid-state batteries, aqueous batteries, and ultra-fast-charging batteries will be enhanced.
