Since 2026, the consumer goods trade-in policy has continued to deliver significant results, effectively stimulating market vitality and driving the quality improvement and upgrade of consumption.

Data shows that in the first half of 2026, the trade-in program for consumer goods cumulatively drove related product sales of 1.1 trillion yuan, benefiting 150 million people. Within this, 3.707 million vehicles were traded in, along with 63.266 million home appliances and 79.098 million digital and smart products. Nineteen localities implemented their own category subsidy policies, driving the sale of 992,000 related items.

Transitioning to "Green": Eco-Friendly Products Gain Favor

Driven by the policy, more consumers are opting to purchase green, energy-saving new energy vehicles, accelerating the market's shift towards electrification. Since 2026, the proportion of new energy vehicles receiving the trade-in subsidy has gradually increased, reaching 65.4% in June. This supported a new energy vehicle retail market penetration rate of 62.4% in the second quarter, a record high.

Upgrading to "Smart": Intelligent Consumption Expands Rapidly

From January to June, sales of digital and smart products increased by 13.4% year-on-year, with a single-month growth of 32.0% in June. Since the policy's implementation, sales of smart glasses have accelerated month by month, growing 30.6% in June alone, emerging as a new hotspot in smart consumption.

Moving Towards the "New": Fresh Consumption Drives Emerging Industries

The 2026 consumer goods trade-in policy grants local authorities more autonomy, supporting eligible regions in implementing their own category subsidy policies based on local conditions. Areas such as Jiangsu and Shanghai have tailored their approaches, including cutting-edge smart products like embodied intelligent robots in their subsidy schemes. This meets consumer demand for trying new products and opens up market space for new technologies, industries, and sectors.

Expanding for "Better": County and Rural Consumption Vitality Persists

The coverage of the trade-in policy continues to widen, with the number of offline participating entities increasing by 28.1% year-on-year, further invigorating county and rural markets. In places like Fujian, the number of offline stores participating in home appliance trade-ins in counties and townships grew by 15% compared to the start of the year. A new energy vehicle promotion campaign for rural areas was organized, increasing the supply of suitable vehicle models for these regions, fully ensuring trade-in subsidy demand, improving charging infrastructure and after-sales service networks, and continuously unleashing the consumption potential for vehicles in lower-tier markets.
