BYD COMPANY (01211) surged 5.01% during intraday trading on Wednesday, driven by strong momentum across the new energy vehicle sector and the company's official confirmation of its upcoming humanoid robot debut.
The rally came after BYD confirmed that its humanoid robot product will be formally unveiled in August at its "Di Space" venue in Zhengzhou. The company's executive vice president had previously stated that BYD aims to deploy robots at every dealership for vehicle demonstrations, with household and service-industry humanoid robots representing a significant market opportunity. Chinese automakers are reportedly accelerating their robotics efforts, given over 70% technology overlap between intelligent vehicles and humanoid robots.
Meanwhile, Citigroup maintained a "Buy" rating on BYD with a target price of HK$142, citing a positive fundamental index for July and expecting export momentum to continue into the third quarter. The broader NEV sector also rallied strongly, with LI AUTO-W up over 7%, NIO-SW climbing 5%, and XPENG-W and LEAPMOTOR both posting notable gains, reflecting renewed investor confidence in the electric vehicle space.
