The Bank of England is set to deliberate on the implications of a new artificial intelligence model from Anthropic PBC for financial institutions. UK regulators, mirroring actions by their counterparts in the United States and other nations, have issued warnings regarding the risks associated with this tool.

According to an informed source, Anthropic's Mythos model will be a topic of discussion during upcoming meetings of the Cross-Market Operational Resilience Group (CMORG) and the CMORG AI working group, scheduled by the Bank of England over the next two weeks. Representatives from the UK Treasury, the Financial Conduct Authority, and the National Cyber Security Centre are also expected to attend.

Wall Street banks have already initiated internal testing of the model. This follows warnings from the previous US administration urging executives to take the Mythos model seriously and utilize its capabilities to identify system vulnerabilities. Separately, the Bank of Canada convened a meeting with numerous banks and financial institutions this past Friday to address the cybersecurity risks posed by Mythos.

These series of meetings underscore a growing concern among regulators that sophisticated new forms of cyberattacks represent one of the most significant threats facing the financial industry.

Anthropic has stated that Mythos is a sophisticated new model capable of identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities across all major operating systems and web browsers.
